Sixers Bleeding Won’t Stop Soon

We’ve seen the Sixers put together small winning streaks this season and besides that brutal 12 game losing streak, they seem to sneak in a few wins between their losses. I don’t even think that’s going to be possible over the next week and a half though. For the most part, none of their next five games are winnable.
Their brutal stretch of games started on Wednesday night in Phoenix with a double-digit loss to the Suns. It continues tonight with a trip to LA for the Lakers followed by games against the Magic, Hawks, Celtics and Raptors in that order. In other words- they play the defending champions followed by 4 of the top 5 teams in the East. Read the rest of this entry »
The Sixers Show Signs of Life

The Sixers are getting hot right before the All-Star break which might throw some kinks into any trades they were thinking about doing. At 19-31, they still aren’t great but their 4 game winning streak is proof this team still has some fight left in it.
Besides a win against the Nets, the other 3 teams they beat in this short winning streak all have much better records than them. They’ve also been putting up a lot of points during the winning streak Read the rest of this entry »
Expect More From Iverson
In the words of Iverson himself, he didn’t want to go out there and act like superman on the first night. To start his new role with the Sixers, his plan was to ease into the games, take breaks when he needs to and not try to do too much. That’s exactly what we saw from him last night and I liked what I saw.
Nobody expected him to come in on game one and drop 30 on one of the best teams in the NBA. He will get to that level a few times this season but not in his first game in months. What he did was spread the ball around and inspired the others to play well (for most of the game). It seemed like Iverson’s presence and the atmosphere he created at the stadium inspired Iguodalla to step up and play well. He scored a game high 31 points, had 3 steals and started the game on fire. Sixers Look Sharp in the Preseason
With the season just a few weeks away, the Sixers are right in the middle of their preseason and look to be in great shape. Pretty much nobody thinks preseason wins and losses matter but it’s still cool to point out that the Sixers are 4-0 right now (good enough for 2nd in the NBA). They have been beating teams solidly and average over 94 points per game. They still aren’t getting much love from ESPN because in their latest NBA power rankings, the Sixers are 17th.
Brand, Young and the rest of the starters have been putting up good numbers so far. The only starter who’s been consistently NOT scoring is Dalembert. He’s been having a tough time getting points and only recorded over 7 rebounds once.
Some of the questions going into the season surround Elton Brand and Lou Williams. People are wondering if Elton Brand can be as dominant as he was 3 seasons ago before his injuries. They are also wondering how Lou Williams will handle the starting point job roll. Read the rest of this entry »
