Breaking Down Vick’s Play
So I watched Vick last night. I was impressed. He did a lot of things right and nothing wrong really. I mean he only saw limited action but within that time frame, he was poised, calm, and relaxed. For a player that has been out of the league for two years, staying focused like that is very hard to do. He really looked like he wasn’t out of the league at all. I want to talk about a few specific plays.
His first shovel pass: This play may look simple to the eye. However, timing is key on this play and remaining poised is essential. Vick executed perfectly. He drew in the defender and dished the ball off at the right moment and got a nice gain of yardage. This will be a solid play for throughout the whole season. Read the rest of this entry »
Phillies Players Split on Vick
Just like the rest of the city, the Philadelphia Phillies players seem to be split on the signing of Vick. At least a few of them.
Jimmy Rollins supports the Eagles signing of the former prisoner. He says, like many other fans, that people deserve second chances in life and Vick is no exception. A ton NFL players and coaches have been saying the same thing about him. What he did was wrong but he did his time and should get chance to prove himself.
Chase Utley’s feelings on the issue are a lot harder to uncover. He hasn’t made any public announcement about his views on Vick yet and I don’t blame him at all. For most of his career he has been an advocate against animal cruelty. He sponsors events, pays for the recovery of abused animals, and raises tons of money for their protection. If you visit his website you can watch videos and read his comments on animal cruelty. It his something he feels strongly about.
I Am ___ the Eagles Signed Vick!
It is no long new news that our Philadelphia Eagles have signed ex Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. Now that the dust has settled (a little) we want to hear how you will finish our latest “Fill It It”.
I Am ____ the Eagles Signed Vick
Our opinion :Shocked. I am shocked that the Eagles signed Michael Vick. Not only because it was completely under the radar, but because it goes against everything the Eagles organization believes in. The Eagles have played it safe in free agency ever since the T.O. debacle. They have not taken many risks or brought in any type of star talent on either side of the ball besides Asante Samuel in the past couple of years.
Now, they go out and agree to one of the most controversial signings in team history. Talk about mind blowing, and that is why I am shocked. Shocked however does not mean disappointed, or disgusted, or displeased. Give the man a shot, let him prove he’s out to do good…besides, he doesn’t make our team any worse right?

Eagles Sign Michael Vick
One word…interesting. Nobody close to the NFL expected this. We heard the media build up Vick’s signing for a few weeks now and not once did we hear the Eagles name mentioned. To many (including me) Vick signing with the Eagles was not even a possibility.
Well, we live in a crazy world and sometimes things that aren’t supposed to happen do happen. The Philadelphia Eagles signed the former pro bowl quarterback to a one year contract with an option for a second year. This is a shocker and we have been hearing fan opinions from both sides of the fence. Some fans love the signing, some hate it and are even ashamed of the team.
To me, this deal is like the Phillies’ deal with Pedro. It can’t hurt at all and time will tell if it will help. He’s not going to come in and be the same player he was in 2006 when he played his last NFL game. He probably won’t even be the 2nd string QB. But that being said, he really knows the offense and brings a ton of excitement to this roster. There is no end to the exciting, creative ways the Eagles will find to utilize Vick (ex-wildcat). There may not have been a need for him in the minds of many fans but having a player like this around doesn’t hurt. Nobody will forget the horrible crimes he committed but he deserves another shot and it might as well be in Philly.
And to all of you “McNabb haters”, don’t think this signing means an end to McNabb’s run as the Eagles starting QB. If you even had that dumb thought in your head, it has been confirmed by Coach Reid that there is no possibility of that happening.
In case you were wondering, Here is Peta’s official response to the signing:
PETA and millions of decent football fans around the world are disappointed that the Philadelphia Eagles have chosen to sign a man who hanged dogs from trees, electrocuted them with jumper cables, held them underwater until they drowned in his swimming pool, and even threw his own family dogs into the fighting pit to be torn to shreds while he laughed. What sort of message does this send to young fans who care about animals and don’t want to see them be harmed? PETA certainly hopes that Vick has learned his lesson and feels truly remorseful for his crimes–but since he’s given no public indication that that’s the case, only time will tell. At this point, all Eagles fans can do is cross their fingers and hope that they won’t ever have to explain to their sons and daughters what a “rape rack” is and why their favorite player was using one, as Falcons fans once had to.
