Weaver an Important Piece for 2010

http://www.tatguy.com/images/Leonard%20Weaver.jpgDespite their long list of obvious problems to fix, one of the Eagles top off-season priorities should be locking up fullback Leonard Weaver to a long term deal. Reports say the talks have begun.

Weaver was an important part of the offense in 2009. It was his first year with the team but he fit perfectly into the position and gained about 500 total yards and 4 touchdowns. He was even selected to his first pro bowl and proved to be a huge piece of the west-coast offense that this team was missing for years. Read the rest of this entry »

Westbrook and Weaver Back McNabb

Here we go again with another McNabb post right? Well, yes this is another McNabb post.  It’s hard not to write about such a hot topic in Philadelphia sports though.  There is so much going on and no one really knows what to believe.  Did Kolb really receive a contract extension offer? Are the Eagles really entertaining trade proposals for McNabb? And if so, what would it take to send McNabb away?   All of these questions are being “answered” by people who really are only guessing.  Andy Reid said that McNabb will be here in 2010 right after the loss in the playoffs.  Just recently he said it again and the new GM stated that Andy Read the rest of this entry »

6 Birds Flyin to the Pro Bowl

The Philadelphia Eagles will have six representatives in the upcoming Pro Bowl.  The list includes: Asante Samuel, Leonard Weaver, DeSean Jackson, Jason Peters, David Akers, and Trent Cole.  The Eagles are tied in the NFC East with the Cowboys who are also sending six players.  However, the Eagles have four starters while the Cowboys will only have two. Jackson, Samuel, Peters, and Weaver will all be starting.  While it is good to see these players get acknowledged, I think that Brent Celek got robbed.  He has 8 touchdowns and is closing in on 900 yards for the season.  Sheldon Brown and Read the rest of this entry »

Eagles Explosive Offense

Hopefully you watched the Eagles take care of business today and embarrass the New York Giants. They looked spectacular and definitely like one of the leagues best. They turned a 30-7 half time lead into a 40-17 victory and only held the ball for about 24 minutes. This offense is explosive when they’re playing well and that was proven today since their longest scoring plays went for 41, 54 and 66 yards.

We knew DeSean Jackson would have a year like this and it helps a lot. On any given play he can score and he knows it which makes him even more dangerous. He had one down game this season when he only had 1 catch for a yard or two and Maclin stole the show.

It was also great to see a running game today- even with Westbrook out. That was probably the biggest question coming into the game but especially with the starter sidelined but the backups filled in well. McCoy and Weaver each had Read the rest of this entry »
