Phillies Are The City’s Only Hope

AP Photo

The Eagles failed on us this year. We had high hopes for them going into the last week of the regular season and the playoffs but they completely fell apart and let us down. Now they’re sitting low in free agency and they don’t get another shot at the playoffs for about 10 months.

The Sixers seem to fail on us every year. They haven’t been out of the first round of the playoffs in 7 years and have had 6 different head coaches since 2003. This year they’re among the leagues worst Read the rest of this entry »

Weaver an Important Piece for 2010

http://www.tatguy.com/images/Leonard%20Weaver.jpgDespite their long list of obvious problems to fix, one of the Eagles top off-season priorities should be locking up fullback Leonard Weaver to a long term deal. Reports say the talks have begun.

Weaver was an important part of the offense in 2009. It was his first year with the team but he fit perfectly into the position and gained about 500 total yards and 4 touchdowns. He was even selected to his first pro bowl and proved to be a huge piece of the west-coast offense that this team was missing for years. Read the rest of this entry »

Thank You Brian Westbrook

Brian Westbrook was released by the Philadelphia Eagles today. We all knew this moment was coming- especially after watching the nagging injuries slow him down and impact his numbers over the past 2 seasons. He was coming off a 274 yard rushing season and was owed over $7 million dollars next year. If you’re like me, you know the move makes sense but it’s still hard to see him go.

Westbrook was the heart of the Eagles offense since 2004 and was an impact player since the day he was drafted. Read the rest of this entry »

Cowboys Keep Losing Their Manhood

http://lonestarstruck.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/smith_emmit050203.jpgFootball season is over but there’s always time for Eagles fans to make fun of the Cowboys. I saw these 2 commercials recently so I just felt like posting them up here for all other Eagles fans to enjoy.

Jimmy Johnson- that guy who led the Cowboys to consecutive super bowl wins- is now a big advocate of Extenze. Extenze is a natural male enhancement product for when your manhood just isn’t working right. He is proud to announce to the world that he uses and loves the product. He’s their new spokesperson and I’m sure he’s making Cowboys fans proud. I heard Jimmy just signed a contract to be the spokesperson for Depend for men. Enjoy: Read the rest of this entry »

Eagles’ Schedule Looks Brutal

Jeremy Maclin #18 of the Philadelphia Eagles makes a catch and is pushed out of bounds by London Fletcher #59 of the Washington Redskins during their game at Lincoln Financial Field on November 29, 2009 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This year the Eagles ended with a good record at 11-5 but if you look over their schedule, they didn’t have too much competition. They only played 5 games against teams that ended their seasons above .500 and they lost 4 of them. If this team had a tougher schedule this past season, I think things would have turned out a lot differently and probably ended in them missing the playoffs.

I hope something changes before next season because the Eagles have one of the toughest schedules Read the rest of this entry »

Temple Alum In His 2nd Super Bowl

Although Temple football hasn’t produced a lot of wins over the past decade, they have produced a lot of Super Bowl caliber football players. This Sunday, Raheem Brock (DE- Colts) will be playing in his second Super Bowl since being drafted from Temple in 2002.

Brock is in his 8th season in the NFL and has made a name for himself around the league. He’s recorded 28.5 sacks and played in all 16 games for the Colts in 6 of the past 7 seasons. His versatility and reliability make him an important part of the Indianapolis Defense. He was originally drafted by the Eagles but had to be released because the team ran out of money. The Colts were quick to pick him up and haven’t regretted the move.

The big story line surrounding Brock this Sunday is his playing time. He plays in every game for the team but will probably see even more playing time in the Super Bowl Read the rest of this entry »

Jackson… “Shooting For the Top”

DeSean Jackson earned $385,000 this season and next season he is scheduled to make $470,000.  In 2011, he will make $555,000.  Now, he signed the contract and that is what he agreed too.  However, I think that everyone agrees that his salary is a little less than what he deserves.

Let’s break down his stats:

While DeSean only had 62 receptions which was 38th in the league (including RB’s), his 62 receptions tallied up over 1,150 yards.  He averaged over 18 yards a reception which is first among players with more than fifty receptions.  The next player in average yards a reception is the Chargers Vincent Jackson who had 68 catches averaging 17 yards per grab.  Jackson was 9th in the league totaling about 77 yards a game. Goodnight Dallas

Brett Favre #4 of the Minnesota Vikings celebrates a touchdown in the second quarter against the New York Giants on January 3, 2010 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)

If the Eagles can’t be playing in the NFC Championship game then no NFC East team should be. Even though many of us are still grieving over the loss  to the Cowboys last Saturday, we can all exhale because the Vikings just kicked them back to Dallas with a 27-3 win (34-3: The Vikings just rubbed it in with a last minute touchdown).  It was great watching the game and listening to the crushed voice of Troy Aikman while he commentated on the last few drives. 97.5 The Fanatic vs McNabb

http://www.unlockedsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/mcnabb.jpgLately when I’ve been in my car, I’ve been listening to 97.5 the Fanatic. If you aren’t familiar with The Fanatic, it’s Philly’s first FM sports station. They are affiliated with ESPN Radio and bring pretty good insight to the world of Philly Sports. They also touch on the national level with programs such as the always entertaining Mike and Mike in the Morning. Throughout the day they take a bunch of callers, talk about  Philly sports and have some pretty interesting radio personalities running the show.

But ever since Saturday’s Eagles game and even in the week leading up to it, it seems all I hear on the station are talks about the different reasons McNabb should be out of here and the different ways the Eagles can make it happen. Read the rest of this entry »

Spitting on the Dallas Star (Video)

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mKlP0OuHDVs/SoCwv5w3_nI/AAAAAAAAAH4/hHl5nb6MQKc/s320/Dallas-star.gifSomehow, a little act of unkindness from the Eagles own Dave Spadaro has made national headlines. It even made it to the front page of the CNN sports website. The reason? Last Sunday before the Eagles game, Spadaro (who I never liked) was alone in the Cowboys new stadium with a video camera. He decided to film himself spitting on the star at midfield and posted the video on PhiladelphiaEagles.com. Now the whole country is looking at him, the Eagles’ oganization and their fans and adding to their faulty arguments of what horrible people we all are.

There’s no doubt that that was a dumb personal move by Dave (since it could end in him losing his job). If it was done by any other fan and I would have said good for you Read the rest of this entry »
