Jackson’s Comments Out of Line?

DeSean Jackson had 2 of the most outstanding years in the NFL a young wide receiver could wish for with McNabb as his QB. Number 5 helped make Jackson one of the elite WRs in this league by finding him at least 50 yards downfield almost once a game. So were Jackson’s comments about the McNabb trade out of line?
A few days ago, Jackson spoke out about the trade in an interview and said Read the rest of this entry »
McNabb Talk
Every football fan has a favorite player. People grew up watching Joe Montana, John Elway, Joe Namath, Bledsoe, etc. and really it doens’t matter who your favorite player was/is you will defend them till the end.A player that they the grew up watching and watched every game. That’s who McNabb is to me.

Jody Gomez/US Presswire
Since day one McNabb had his hands full playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. He took a losing franchise and brought them years of success and while it didn’t end with a ring, I am ultimately satisfied with the effort McNabb put forth for a fan base that never fully appreciated or respected what he did for the team.
Donovan McNabb-whether you like it or not-is arguably a Hall of Fame quarterback. He is currently only behind Peyton Manning and Tom Brady when it comes to success of active quarterbacks and no one can take that away from him. People want to say that he’s washed up and is not the player he used to be. I would really like to hear why people are saying this. His stats the past two years are among his career bests. While stats don’t account for everything Read the rest of this entry »
Handle it Properly for Once
For some reason I always had a feeling that the Eagles were never completely honest with what they were doing… EVER. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the Eagles but most of my love is for the TEAM…not the front office or coaching staff. Whenever Andy Reid talks it always seems like hes hiding something or that he almost doesn’t want to tell anybody ANYTHING. Him along with some other people in the organization act shady about their business. I understand that it is a business but I just wish that they would be up front completely with how they are handling the QB situation.
Andy Reid is always careful how the chooses his words. He is also quick to rephrase things later on after he realizes he left loopholes for the media to see through. ”McNabb is our quarterback” is one type of statement. However, “I guess we’re all living for the day here, but, to answer your question, yeah, today he is our quarterback” is another type of statement. The irony in the whole “quote” comparison is that they both Read the rest of this entry »
McNabb Update & Iverson News
When will the mayhem stop? The answer is never. Until McNabb retires or is traded or released, every off season the same questions will be asked. This off season, McNabb is staying strong and answering the questions the exact same as he did every previous year. He wants to be an Eagle…for the rest of his career. He had a quote recently that I have a lot of respect for. He said that he believes in staying where you start. He doesn’t think switching teams is the right way to do it. McNabb wants to finish what he started and you can’t hate on that.
On another note, Iverson will be forced to miss the NBA All Read the rest of this entry »
McNabb Added to the Pro Bowl
For the sixth time in Donovan McNabb’s career he will be playing in the NFL Pro Bowl. After the Saints claimed victory in a hard fought game Sunday night, Donovan was selected to replace Saints QB Drew Brees who will be competing in the Super Bowl. While Pro Bowl appearances are not even on the same level as Super Bowl wins, McNabb’s six is a number that shows his consistency and ability to be one of the leagues best year in and year out. This year McNabb threw for 3500 yards and 22 touchdowns along with 10 interceptions. He ended the season with an average rating of about 93.0. His completion percentage was just over 60 %. Along with McNabb, Quinton Mikell was also added to the Pro Bowl.
Many people seem think McNabb will not be around this next season. Many people don’t wouldn’t even care if he left. I personally believe that McNabb will be an Eagle for at least this upcoming season. Why would they increase his salary and give him more guarenteed money if they had plans to trade him?… That would turn away possible suitors who thought they would be getting McNabb for a bargain. By reworking his salary, they Eagles made a statement that McNabb will be in their plans for as long as he is under contract. If not, they would have left his contract alone, and that would have been a huge sign that they really were interested in trading him.
97.5 The Fanatic vs McNabb
Lately when I’ve been in my car, I’ve been listening to 97.5 the Fanatic. If you aren’t familiar with The Fanatic, it’s Philly’s first FM sports station. They are affiliated with ESPN Radio and bring pretty good insight to the world of Philly Sports. They also touch on the national level with programs such as the always entertaining Mike and Mike in the Morning. Throughout the day they take a bunch of callers, talk about Philly sports and have some pretty interesting radio personalities running the show.
But ever since Saturday’s Eagles game and even in the week leading up to it, it seems all I hear on the station are talks about the different reasons McNabb should be out of here and the different ways the Eagles can make it happen. Read the rest of this entry »
The Big Man’s Here For Awhile
Celek got his deal, now head coach Andy Reid has been inked up through 2013. Good or bad? Try great. That’s how I feel about this signing. Many people don’t believe in his schemes and coaching ability, but really it’s something that needed to be done. Why change success? Why abandon a system that is proven? If the Eagles would not have locked up Andy Reid, he would have left the Eagles and went on to have continued success with another franchise. If Andy Reid would have left, another coach would have came in, and probably Read the rest of this entry »
A Win is a Win
The truth is, a win is a win. Whether it be a sloppy win, a blowout, a close game, whatever. The outcome is the same, a win, and that’s all the Eagles need to focus on. I don’t care if the Eagles win every game for the rest of the season like they won today. Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t want them to blowout teams by fifty points, I’m just saying that no matter how hard todays game was to watch, in the end the Eagles came out on top, and I can sleep easily tonight.
What I liked in todays game:
I really liked how McCoy continued to run the ball well. He averaged 4.5 yards a carry on 17 touches totaling 76 yards. Read the rest of this entry »
Why Don’t We Run?
The Philadelphia Eagles play calling is horrible. Mainly, because they fail to run the ball at all. In the game against the Chargers, the offense attempted to run the ball only thirteen times and averaged only 2.2 yards per carry. That is horrible. That is disgusting. That isn’t right. McNabb was forced to pass the ball fifty-five times. Some quarterbacks in the NFL don’t even attempt that many passes in two games. In the NFL you run the ball to set up the pass, not the other way around. Failing to run the ball causes a tremendous amount of problems for an offense.
The main problem is that it allows a defense to realize that the offense is one dimensional. Therefore, they can sit back with five defensive backs and play the pass all day. This makes it extremely hard to throw the ball for any Read the rest of this entry »
Oh Michael Vick…
Well we knew this was going to happen. Michael Vick is unhappy with his role on the Eagles. This season Vick has attempted six passes in which he has only completed two of them, and only for six yards total. He has twelve rushing attempts for twenty-seven yards, an average of 2.3 yards a carry. While the signing of Michael Vick was all about adding another weapon to the team, really it has done nothing. The wildcat for the Eagles offense has really done nothing. I like the concept, but taking McNabb out of the game and force Vick in, really just does not make sense.
“I won’t be a Wildcat guy. I can’t,” Vick told NBC. “It’s a different style of play. It’s almost like a hit-or-miss type of thing. My position is quarterback. That’s what I was born to do.”
