Drafting Birds in Fantasy Football
The Eagles offense looks a lot different heading into this year than it did last year. There’s a different starting QB and RB and some of the offensive weapons that were little known around the league before last year are now household names.
As an Eagles fan, there’s always that desire to draft some Birds into your starting line up. I had Celek and Jackson last season and my co-writer tried to land McNabb in his drafts for as long as I can remember. If you’re getting ready for a fantasy draft in the next few months, here’s where the Eagles players stand.
Kevin Kolb-Let’s face it, Kolb isn’t going to go early in any drafts this year. That doesn’t mean he can’t be your starting QB but it would be a risk. In most fantasy rankings (Yahoo, CBS Sports, etc) Kolb is ranked as the 10-14th best QB. Read the rest of this entry »
Jackson’s Comments Out of Line?

DeSean Jackson had 2 of the most outstanding years in the NFL a young wide receiver could wish for with McNabb as his QB. Number 5 helped make Jackson one of the elite WRs in this league by finding him at least 50 yards downfield almost once a game. So were Jackson’s comments about the McNabb trade out of line?
A few days ago, Jackson spoke out about the trade in an interview and said Read the rest of this entry »
Dawkins Says Run the Ball
Former Eagle Brian Dawkins, one of the most beloved players in all of Philadelphia sports history gave the Eagles a little advice last Sunday during the Pro Bowl. Thanks for speaking up Brian. Only if the coaching staff would listen.
“Run the ball. With that passing attack, the way that thing is shaping up to be, go ahead and bring Donovan [McNabb] back to where he’s supposed to be, and run Read the rest of this entry »
Jackson… “Shooting For the Top”
DeSean Jackson earned $385,000 this season and next season he is scheduled to make $470,000. In 2011, he will make $555,000. Now, he signed the contract and that is what he agreed too. However, I think that everyone agrees that his salary is a little less than what he deserves.
Let’s break down his stats:
While DeSean only had 62 receptions which was 38th in the league (including RB’s), his 62 receptions tallied up over 1,150 yards. He averaged over 18 yards a reception which is first among players with more than fifty receptions. The next player in average yards a reception is the Chargers Vincent Jackson who had 68 catches averaging 17 yards per grab. Jackson was 9th in the league totaling about 77 yards a game. The Eagles Are Hitting Their Stride

Now that they got out of that unimpressive early-mid season stretch, the Eagles are finally showing that they’re one of the top teams in the NFC and NFL. Them heating up in December isn’t new to Eagles’ fans though. They seem to do this every year.
After week 10 the Eagles were 5-4 and coming off back to back losses. Since their last loss to the Chargers however, they’re on a 4 game winning streak. Their 9-4 record is good enough for first place in the NFC East Read the rest of this entry »
Do You Love DeSean As Much As He Loves Himself? (VIDEO)
DeSean Jackson is the man. His play week in and week out and his development since being selected by the Eagles shows that he’s got what it takes to be an everyday contributor. He may not have the size of some of the NFL greats like Andre Johnson and Randy Moss but he has more quickness and just as much big playmaking ability. NFL fans know he’s a special player and this video is proof that he knows it too.
The video clip is something I watched on SportsCenter the day after the Eagles beat the Redskins a few weeks ago. I hunted it down from espn.com and it’s something worth watching for every Eagles fan. His cockiness and attitude makes me like him more but probably pisses off the fans of every other team in the league. He’s the man and he knows it. Watch and enjoy:
Is DeSean Jackson The Next TO?
If we’re judging by skill level, I think Eagles’ fans can make the case that he’s on track to be just as good. But I’m focusing on his personality and actions off the field and how he will handle a contract situation. He has a lot more in common with the infamous ex-Eagles receiver now that he signed Drew Rosenhaus as his agent.
Who can forget the deadly combination of TO’s personality mixed with Rosenhaus’s attitude? With him as an advisor, Owens demanded a new contract after just one year in Philly and was no longer happy as an Eagle because they weren’t paying him enough to feed his family. This led to his release and the burning of Owens jerseys in the homes of thousands of Eagles fans.
Since then, the Eagles have been working with Rosenhaus in a more civil way. His Eagles’ clients include McCoy, Ingram and Jean-Gilles, but none of those players have the skill level or cocky, outspoken attitude Jackson has and, as we saw with TO, that can be a destructive combination. Eagles Explosive Offense
Hopefully you watched the Eagles take care of business today and embarrass the New York Giants. They looked spectacular and definitely like one of the leagues best. They turned a 30-7 half time lead into a 40-17 victory and only held the ball for about 24 minutes. This offense is explosive when they’re playing well and that was proven today since their longest scoring plays went for 41, 54 and 66 yards.
We knew DeSean Jackson would have a year like this and it helps a lot. On any given play he can score and he knows it which makes him even more dangerous. He had one down game this season when he only had 1 catch for a yard or two and Maclin stole the show.
It was also great to see a running game today- even with Westbrook out. That was probably the biggest question coming into the game but especially with the starter sidelined but the backups filled in well. McCoy and Weaver each had Read the rest of this entry »
The Bye Week and Trotter
The bye week is usually one of the most frustrating parts of the season for me because it leaves me with nothing to do on Sunday. However, this season it is different for me. The bye week is a sigh of relief. It is coming at possibly the most convenient time possible.
Going into the bye week the Eagles are 2-1, and ranked 9th in the power rankings by ESPN. While 9 is good, I feel like they are being underestimated right now. However, it could be seen as a fair assumption when taking into account their blowout by the Panthers. This bye week is important for a couple amount of reasons…mainly two. this will give the Eagles injured players time to recover. Read the rest of this entry »
DeSean Jackson…Amazing
DeSean Jackson… what a draft pick. At the beginning of last year we did not know what to expect. Then he came out and had one of the most impressive rookie seasons that the NFL has seen in a long time. He was more dynamic and explosive than anybody thought he would be right at the start of the season. Coming into this year he had some things to work on however. He needed to become a more mature player and continue to develop his skills. We are now three weeks into the season and he has shown a lot… and I mean… A LOT.
In three games he has 259 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging over twenty yards per catch. His route running is a lot better. Oh and he isn’t dropping the ball before he gets into the endzone. He was already a threat last year. However this year, he has proved in just three games that he can be a true number one. He is not letting his size get in the way of his game play. Defenses now have to game plan for him. They have to take into account where he is on the field at all times.
