Thriller In Philly

The Flyers almost killed their shot at making the playoffs the last few weeks of the regular season.  They lost ten out of their last fifteen contests.  However all that is behind and the records are clean as the Flyers look to make a run at the Stanley Cup.  When it came down to it, the Flyers got the job done when it mattered, and really it only mattered tonight.

In a crazy game the Flyers played like there was no tomorrow… probably because if they lost the team would start the long off season.  No one on the team wanted the season to end.  The Flyers were playing from behind for most of the game.  They were down 1-0 until the third period when Matt Carle put the puck in the net to tie the game at 1-1.  That gave the Flyers life.  Hats have to be tipped to goal tender Boucher who stopped 24 of 25 shots which is a save percentage of 96.  Also he was outstanding in the shoot out.

After the goal by Carle, the goalies didn’t let another puck past them for the rest of regulation.  The final buzzer rang and the game went into overtime.  With time winding down in overtime, the teams knew that a shoot out was going to be the final answer if no one could finish off the game.  No one did and the fate of both these teams would be decided in a 3 round shootout.  Claude Giroux ended up being the hero scoring the game winner in the shootout.  CONGRATULATIONS FLYERS!!
