McNabb Talk
Every football fan has a favorite player. People grew up watching Joe Montana, John Elway, Joe Namath, Bledsoe, etc. and really it doens’t matter who your favorite player was/is you will defend them till the end.A player that they the grew up watching and watched every game. That’s who McNabb is to me.

Since day one McNabb had his hands full playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. He took a losing franchise and brought them years of success and while it didn’t end with a ring, I am ultimately satisfied with the effort McNabb put forth for a fan base that never fully appreciated or respected what he did for the team.
Donovan McNabb-whether you like it or not-is arguably a Hall of Fame quarterback. He is currently only behind Peyton Manning and Tom Brady when it comes to success of active quarterbacks and no one can take that away from him. People want to say that he’s washed up and is not the player he used to be. I would really like to hear why people are saying this. His stats the past two years are among his career bests. While stats don’t account for everything performance does and he is 2 years removed from an NFC Championship appearance. Last season the team was manhandled by Cowboys. McNabb played horrible, the receivers played horrible, the defense was burnt.
While McNabb is my favorite player, I understand the business. He’s going to be 34 years old, they love Kolb, and the trade value that they got for him was remarkable. A high second round pick this year and basically a third rounder next year is tremendous. However trading him within the division was probably one of the most ignorant and disrespectful moves the F.O. could have done. Why is it ignorant? Well, while some doubt McNabb will make a difference when it comes to taking the Redskins to the Super Bowl that really is besides the point. The point is that the Redskins have acquired one of the leagues best QB’s. That automatically makes them better. The past three seasons the record between the Eagles and Redskins is split at 3-3. The NFC East plays divisional opponents tough. Now the Redskins have an even better chance to beat the Eagles twice a season with their tremendous upgrade at QB.
All in all, thank you McNabb. I am truly greatfull for what you did for the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia. You brought them the most successful 11 years of their existence. I am sorry for the fans who don’t get what you did and I wish you the best of luck with the Redskins.
