Phillies Are The City’s Only Hope

The Eagles failed on us this year. We had high hopes for them going into the last week of the regular season and the playoffs but they completely fell apart and let us down. Now they’re sitting low in free agency and they don’t get another shot at the playoffs for about 10 months.
The Sixers seem to fail on us every year. They haven’t been out of the first round of the playoffs in 7 years and have had 6 different head coaches since 2003. This year they’re among the leagues worst and will definitely end up with yet another new head coach going into next year. It will take at least 5 years for the Sixers to get Philly near the championship and if this management continues to make bad decisions, it will could take even longer.
The Flyers are almost there but you can never tell with this team. They have had extreme ups and downs all season and injuries- especially to Ray Emery- have hurt. They are a team with a lot of young players and are in a very tight playoff race. They have done a good job at turning their season around though. They started off bad and even had a mid-season coaching change but improved overall. Now it looks like they will make the playoffs but they definitely aren’t the best team in the conference so they will need a few upsets to make it all the way.
That’s why the Phillies are the only hope for this city and that’ may be for a year or two. We know this team has the best shot to represent the NL in the World Series for a third straight season which is so rare in sports. They somehow find a way to improve every year and go into the season as the favorites. We stick through the ups and downs of our teams because that’s what true fans do. But at least for the next few years, we can always count on the Phillies.
