Westbrook and Weaver Back McNabb

Here we go again with another McNabb post right? Well, yes this is another McNabb post.  It’s hard not to write about such a hot topic in Philadelphia sports though.  There is so much going on and no one really knows what to believe.  Did Kolb really receive a contract extension offer? Are the Eagles really entertaining trade proposals for McNabb? And if so, what would it take to send McNabb away?   All of these questions are being “answered” by people who really are only guessing.  Andy Reid said that McNabb will be here in 2010 right after the loss in the playoffs.  Just recently he said it again and the new GM stated that Andy spoke for the whole organization.

Just recently however both former Eagle (I hate saying that) Brian Westbrook and soon to be restricted free agent Leonard Weaver say that they both find it hard to believe that anyone has a better chance at winning with the Eagles than Donovan McNabb.  Now, it’s easy to get caught up in all the chatter between the fans.  We all have our own opinions.  However, if I’m going to believe anyone, it will be the people on the field with Donovan every Sunday.  I will put my trust in th words of players who basically spend seven days a week with the man.  Westbrook played eight years with McNabb.  If he says he believes in McNabb and that putting in Kolb this season would be a step in the wrong direction, then I believe him.  I also believe him when he says that he think Kolb will be a great QB eventually.  He knows more than I do.  He practiced with him everyday, I didn’t.  Also, when Weaver calls someone a true leader, I believe him as well.  I feel Weaver just doesn’t throw around the term true leader very often.
