Vick a top 10 QB

Michael Vick was on the Dan Patrick Radio Show recently and here is what he said, “”I still feel like I’m among the top 10, to be honest.”  He stated that he is confident in his abilities.  Now, here is my opinion on Michael Vick.

Michael Vick is an athlete.  He is fast, but not as fast as he used to be.  He is quick, but not as quick as he used to be.  His passing ability is unknown since he really didn’t throw the ball that much this season.  He was 6-13 for a total of 86 yards and one touchdown.  He ran the ball 24 times racking up 96 yards, an average of 4 yards a carry (less than half of what he averaged his last season with Atlanta).  Vick scored twice on the ground.  Honestly I do believe that he can play QB in the NFL.  He can still start in this league because there are QB’s on teams that are really … just bad.

However, he is not a top ten QB in the league.  When he was in his prime, it is arguable to even say that back then he was not a top ten QB.  Now there are a handful of QB’s who are better than Vick.  Youngsters Flacco and Ryan are better.  Players who have been consistent for a few years now such as Aaron Rogers, Matt Schaub, and  Tony Romo are better.  I would even say that underachieving over rated Jay Cutler is a better QB than Mike Vick.  Then there are the stars of the league.  Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, McNabb, Philip Rivers, Big Ben, and even… ahhh I hate to say it but Eli Manning ( while u may not consider him a star, check his salary… that is STAR money) are all obviously better.  Then there are QB’s such as David Garrard, Kyle Orton, Matt Stafford, and even Carson Palmer who could be considered to be better than Vick right now in their respective careers.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish Vick the best of luck in his career, and if he happens to land a starting job I hope he proves me wrong.  I would love nothing more than to see Vick fight the odds and come back to finish his NFL successfully.  I’m just being honest though right now.
