The Suns want Iggy
How would you like Amare Stoudemire in a Sixers jersey for the rest of the season? The Sixers don’t seem to like the idea.
It’s no secret that the Sixers’ are trying to make a move before the trade deadline and they’re shopping around Andre Iguodala. There are new rumors almost everyday and, as fans, we don’t know who’ll be going where or if any move will be made at all.
One possible trade that is getting attention is with the Suns. According to various reports from places such as ESPN and CSN Philly, the Suns have made it clear that they would love to have Iggy in Phoenix. The reported deal that interests them would be one that sends Iguodala and Dalembert to the Suns for a package of players including Amare Stoudemire. But the one thing stopping this from happening is Philly- they don’t want to make the move.
They have been trying to get rid of Samuel Dalembert and move in a different direction for a few years now. Even though he has been playing the best basketball of his career, Stanfanski has made it clear that there are no untouchables on the roster.
One thing holding the Sixers back from this particular trade is the contract of Amare. After this year, he has the option for one more year at a staggering $17.7 million. Until a few days ago, it was thought throughout the league that Stoudemire would be opting out of the final year which would make him tempting to almost any team. But a few days ago, he said he wasn’t going to opt out any more. If he’s telling the truth that would mean the Sixers would be in almost the same position with cap space next season as they are this season. The point of a trade for them would be to clear up room.
I wouldn’t count this deal out just yet though. The Suns really want Iggy and will continue to push the deal so we’ll see what happens in the next few days.

I hope that Iggy stays. If we can send Brand and Dalembert off to another team for expiering contracts we could really make a move this offseason. Lets just say we can get a guy like Bosh (highly unlikely) we could have a starting line up of maybe Iverson Iggy Young Bosh and Speights or if AI isnt here we could replace him with Jrue Holiday. I think with that line up we could really make a run next year.
