Sixers Trade
Everyone was expecting the Sixers to make a trade. Some big names being tossed around were Amare and TMac. However those fell through and the Sixers never made moves to acquire a big name player. However, with the trade deadline approaching, the Sixers did make a move with the Milwaukee Bucks. It involved four players total and a second round draft pick. The trade might not be a blockbuster but the Sixers acquired Jodie Meeks, who supposedly was very high on their 2009 draft board.
Here is how the trade looks:
Sixers get: Jodie Meeks (SG) and Francisco Elson (C)
Bucks get: Royal Ivey (G), Primoz Brezec (C) and a 2010 2nd round draft pick
All of these players are bench players. The Sixers gave up two players who rarely got on the court. The most valuable thing they gave up was their 2nd round draft pick. Royal Ivey isn’t even averaging three points per game, and Brezec isn’t even averaging one. The motive behind this trade was the Sixers desire for former Kentucky guard Jodie Meeks. Meeks is 6 ft. 4 and the Sixers love his potential. At Kentucky he was scoring 23 points a game and three rebounds. This season he is scoring about 4 points a game. Personally I like the trade. The Sixers got rid of players who were taking up space on the roster and replaced them with a player (Meeks) who has the potential to be a good player in the league.
