Flyers Game Tonight

I will be attending the Flyers game tonight in Philadelphia against the Atlanta Thrashers.  The Thrashers have a very similar record to the Flyers.  While they have three less wins, they have one less loss and five more overtime losses.  When looking at the points, the Flyers have 55 and the Thrashers have 54.  The Flyers are third in the Atlantic Division, and the Thrashers are third in the Southeast.  However, in the Eastern Conference, the Flyers are sixth and the Thrashers are eleventh.  While the teams are close in record and points, the teams play two different types of hockey and have different types of players.

Here is what to look for in tonights game:

The Thrashers have one of the best players in the league.  Kovalchuck is among the top players this year.  He has thirty goals and 26 assists.  Maxim Afinogenov is another player that can put the puck in the net for the Thrashers.  Their goaltending has been shaky this season.  Hedberg and Pavelec share the net.  Their starting goalie has yet to play due to surgery last year.  Tobias Enstrom leads their team in assists and is a very good defender who is +8 this season.

Jeff Carter has been on a hot streak the last couple of games scoring six goals in the past five.  Chris Pronger also has been on a points tear with 12 in the last ten games.  Emery is getting back to his pre injury form.  Look for a hard fought game from both teams.
