Dalembert Playing With Heart

Main ImageIn the midst of the tragedy that has struck Haiti, Samuel Dalembert’s former home, Sammy has emerged as one of the best players on this Sixers team. People have always given him heat in Philly- saying hes underachieving or that the Sixers should part ways with him- but for the past 2 weeks, Dalembert has been playing the best basketball of his NBA career and the Sixers are benefiting because of it.

Early this week, Dalembert spent a few days in Haiti doing everything he could to give back and help. In the interviews he gives, you can see how upset and hurt he is from this but he still manages to leave it all on the court. In a game in which he arrived just minutes before tip-off after a long plane ride, he scored10 points and added a game high 15 rebounds.

Over the past few games, he’s been the Sixers hottest player and one of their only strengths. In the past 5 games Sammy’s averaging 14.4 rpg (league high) and 11.4 ppg on over 70% shooting. Sixers fans couldn’t ask for more from him and neither can Haiti.

Not many of us can imagine what he’s going through. For a while some of his family and friends had been missing and, being a Haitian celebrity, he must be one of the biggest spokesmen for the cause.

He’s doing as much as he can to help his country and his family but he still manages to put up a double double almost every night. As a Sixers fan, I am proud of everything he’s doing.  If you have not yet donated or wish to donate more please follow this link. Even the smallest amount helps.
