97.5 The Fanatic vs McNabb

http://www.unlockedsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/mcnabb.jpgLately when I’ve been in my car, I’ve been listening to 97.5 the Fanatic. If you aren’t familiar with The Fanatic, it’s Philly’s first FM sports station. They are affiliated with ESPN Radio and bring pretty good insight to the world of Philly Sports. They also touch on the national level with programs such as the always entertaining Mike and Mike in the Morning. Throughout the day they take a bunch of callers, talk about  Philly sports and have some pretty interesting radio personalities running the show.

But ever since Saturday’s Eagles game and even in the week leading up to it, it seems all I hear on the station are talks about the different reasons McNabb should be out of here and the different ways the Eagles can make it happen. Maybe it’s just that during the times I listen (2-3 times a day in the morning and afternoon) they are coincidentally talking about the issue but for some reason I doubt that.

There’s no question that the McNabb situation is something that needs to be addressed this offseason by the team but there are so many other things they need to address too.  It’s fine to have the opinion of getting him out of Philly but their repetitive anti-McNabb rambling has gotten a bit old the by 5th or 6th day. In program after program they talk about the same thing with different people saying it. It’s always the same things: “Get him out of here”, “this story is getting old”, “he has a giant flaw”, “it’s time to move on”.

On top of their constant criticisms, there is nobody arguing to keep McNabb around when I am listening which makes it a one sided argument.  They’re beating up on a defenseless guy. If your going to bash the guy during EVERY ONE OF YOUR PROGRAMS, at least have somebody in there to fight for the other side. Also, whenever a caller tries to defend the guy, they just bully them around until the caller is  intimidated and hangs up. I know this is a controversial issue in the city but it’s good to have some variety.

Maybe they’re just trying to talk about it to get better ratings but honestly, there are other things to talk about surrounding this team and this city than just McNabb. We got your opinion the first day. Switch it up a bit.
