6 Birds Flyin to the Pro Bowl
The Philadelphia Eagles will have six representatives in the upcoming Pro Bowl. The list includes: Asante Samuel, Leonard Weaver, DeSean Jackson, Jason Peters, David Akers, and Trent Cole. The Eagles are tied in the NFC East with the Cowboys who are also sending six players. However, the Eagles have four starters while the Cowboys will only have two. Jackson, Samuel, Peters, and Weaver will all be starting. While it is good to see these players get acknowledged, I think that Brent Celek got robbed. He has 8 touchdowns and is closing in on 900 yards for the season. Sheldon Brown and Donovan McNabb also could have easily made the roster with their numbers.
Personally, when watching Jason Peters play it doesn’t seem like he has had a Pro Bowl type year. At least when it comes to pass protection. I constantly see him getting burnt… but I’m not complaining, the more Eagles the better. And maybe with this nomination he’ll actually start playing like a a Pro Bowler. DeSean Jackson was an obvious lock to make it this year. He has turned himself into a top five wide receiver in the NFL and possibly the most exciting player on the field at any given moment. Asante is having an amazing year with nine picks. Weaver is probably the most dangerous full back in the game…arguably. And I am happy that Trent Cole finally is getting some respect from the league, even though he isn’t starting. His 12.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles makes him worthy.
Congratulations to all the players!
