76ers Need Consistency

The truth is that the Philadelphia 76ers are a talented young team.  While they stand at 5-8, they are a far better team than their record shows.  Last year they were a playoff team.  Their problem this year lies with their inconsistency.  You can’t score 141 points one game, and then 74 the next; it just doesn’t work like that.  Their inconsistency is not just with the offense, they need to come out and play hard defense every game.

The Sixers have no players averaging over 20 points a game.  The team leader is Andre Iguodala who is scoring a little over 18 per game.  However, including Andre, the Sixers have five players in double digits.  The lack of scoring comes from their big men.  While Elton Brand is one of the players scoring double digits, 12.1 points per game is not the kind of production that the front office was expecting out of him.  Dalembert is only scoring about six points per game.

As the season continues, we can only hope that players start to step up and play on a higher level.  Louis Williams is in his first year as a starter and is coming along nicely.  He can only get better as time goes on.  I believe that Young will also pick up his contribution to the team.  This team is too athletic to be losing games the way that they do.  Ball control and discipline are key to their success.  It should be interesting to see how the season continues.
