What to Look for in Sunday’s Game

If you have been following the Eagles like a true fan, or simply read our last post, it should not be breaking news that the Eagles are banged up.  They are 1-1, tied with every other team in the NFC East besides the 2-0 Giants.  With the bye week coming up, the Eagles really need to go into the week off with a 2-1 record.  It will be seen as a success with the large amount of injuries, plus it will bring the teams moral up greatly.  So, with the Chiefs tomorrow, here are some things to look out for:

5. Kevin Kolb- Kolb had some good plays and bad plays in his first NFL start.  No matter how you look at it though, the Eagles lost, and struggled to put up points when it mattered.  The defense didn’t help.  However, Kolb did show some signs of promise.  Look to see if he makes progress.  With one game under his belt, he should only get better…key word, SHOULD.

4. Michael Vick- How could I leave Mr. Vick out.  While his name obviously needs to be mentioned, he didn’t earn a higher spot because we really don’t know anything about his impact.  Keep an eye out for him.  It can be expected that when he steps on the field you will hear a mixture of boo birds and cheers.  This will be his first action in a long time in a game that matters, how he will do is totally up to how he is used.

3. Brian Westbrook- Westbrook is questionable…never a good sign.  He will undoubtedly be active, but how much will he play?  Should they push him…should they use him sparingly, or not at all?  With is obvious history, the Eagles can be nothing but concerned.  It was noted that it is not a high ankle sprain, which is good news, but any ankle injury to Westbrook is a very bad sign.

2. LeSean McCoy and Jeremy Maclin- With that being said, watch out for LeSean McCoy.  His workload will be increased.  How will he handle playing more downs, and will he be as effective with more carries?  Also, if Kevin Curtis is unable to play at 100%, Maclin will see the field.  Hopefully we will see growth in his ability.

1. The Defense/Special Teams- Both performed horribly against the Saints.  However, everyone knows the talent is there.  They need to get it together and put pressure on opposing QB’s.  Larry Johnson is a hard runner and will not go down easily…Asante, don’t try to “hit stick” him…take his legs out.  The special teams needs to stop committing penalties. Oh, Hobbs also can’t fumble the ball anymore inside the 20 yard line…or just not fumble at all.

We need this win, for a numerous amount of reasons….but to put it simply… because the Eagles play in the NFC East…No Mercy..
