Kevin Kolb Starting…Scary Thought

With uncertainty surrounding McNabb’s rib injury, there is a good chance we will see someone besides him starting in the week 2 game against the Saints. Unless they make roster changes, that starter will unfortunately be Kevin Kolb. I have no faith in this guy and I haven’t since the first time I saw him play professionally. Something else has to be done.

Let’s start by looking at his career stats. In 8 appearances, he has 167 yards and only 24 completions. That is an average of 3. 7 yards per pass. His QB rating is a horrible 25 and he’s thrown 4 interceptions and no touchdowns.

I know he hasn’t played much but when he has, it’s been painful/comical to watch (depending on the situation). Sunday’s game was comical to watch because even though he screwed up, you knew the Eagles had the game in the bag. Watching him next Sunday could be painful because his performance actually matters.

How can people still want Kolb on this team. He hasn’t shown any potential to be the Eagles’ “QB of the future” and the thought of him starting games for this team is scary. I know they are saying McNabb will be back in a few weeks and possibly even by next week but I’ll believe it when I see it. If he is out longer than expected they should bring in someone who is capable of winning football games. Jeff Garcia is a free agent and so is AJ Feely. I would feel more comfortable with either of those players than Kolb.
