Hey Selig, Let Rose into the Hall

http://a1259.g.akamai.net/f/1259/5586/1d/images.art.com/images/-/Pete-Rose---Phillies-Photograph-C10107109.jpegOn a day where Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice took center stage in the 2009 Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, it got me thinking about Pete Rose and how the former Phillie great should finally be let in. Seriously, it has been long enough. I get it- he bet on the sport while involved as a player and coach but he has paid for it enough and I bet I could find thousands of people like me who think he should be reinstated.

This post is not made to inform anyone about the story of Pete Rose, who he is and why he is banned. If you don’t know the story, look it up. This post is to stress my opinion that the man should be let in already. I know he broke the rules by betting on the sport but take a look at Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire. All of those idiots used roids which is way worse than what Rose did in my opinion. The HOF eligibility of all these guys is quickly approaching and they have yet to be placed on the  infamous “permanently ineligible” list.

Pete Rose is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He was put on the MLB All-Century Team in 1999 and received the loudest ovation of any player on the list. People still like the guy. I do think he should have been punished and banned for a few years for doing what he did. But I think enough is enough. Bud Selig should reconsider Pete’s reinstatement application and finally let him back in. He paid for what he did and now he should be able to join the rest of the greats in Cooperstown. It will be a sad day for baseball if Barry Bonds makes it into the HOF before Pete Rose.

  • I think they should let Pete in also. When I was a kid, I remember seeing a double header against the Astros…those were the days…hmmm…

  • Philly Sports Chat says:

Definitely…you can not say he wasn’t one of the best players of all time…he made a mistake, but that doesn’t take away what he did on the field.
